Thanatos and Orpheus // Private Thread for the Win

[Thanatos wasn't sure how long he had been asleep when he woke up in the dorm. When the grogginess that came from waking up was slowly beginning to leave, all he could remember was the acceptance of his Shadow before he passed out in Orpheus' arms. That was when the thought of Orpheus caused a quick jolt to go through his mind and he immediately wondered where his Assistant was. Fortunately, Orpheus was very close to Thanatos... What with Orpheus holding the hand of his boss. Thanatos gives a small smile as he was amused that Orpheus was halfway off of the bed at the moment.]

... Orpheus?

[Worry didn't begin to cover it. Not like he'd ever admit that fact, of course. What with Erebus and the Reaper and all that, but... took him long enough to accept the damn thing. It was alright now. Shadow accepted, he was the prime target again, and Ryoji was fine... So it was alright to rest a bit, right? So tired again fffff- Which brings us to the current moment. It was obvious he tried staying awake at least, but now his head was resting on the edge of the bed near the hand he had a death vice on, facing away and otherwise unmoving. Not so much sleep as a total loss of consciousness that even Erebus didn't seem to be disturbing.]

[Damn, he was still so exhausted even when his dreams didn't involve Erebus breathing down his neck this time... He closes his eyes for a moment before he gives Orpheus' hand a squeeze. Not that Orpheus would notice, what with his own hand holding Thanatos' in a death vice. Thanatos then makes a tired noise as the sound of rustling sheets are heard and he moves closer to Orpheus. He watches the sleeping Orpheus quietly, the only other sounds his own soft breathing against the other's face. He then talks softly, not wanting to wake the Assistant... ]

You probably can't hear me, Orpheus... That's all right. You need all the rest you can get after all you've been through just to save me... I know it wasn't easy for you to do. It must have hurt so much... Yet, you still want to remain by my side.

[You're right, he didn't hear you. At least not in the conventional sense. No, it's that type of unconscious registering that words are being said but when you wake up you don't remember it. Someone there. Speaking. And all he can manage in return is a breathless 'why' and the start of a second word to the question before it dies off completely. But at least the deathgrip lessens up enough for you to get blood flow back into your hand. Positives!]

[Thanatos proceeds to get closer to Orpheus so their foreheads are now touching. While the other wasn't warm, he was cool and soft which was enough. It was comforting to Thanatos. ... He was more than used to the temperature Orpheus gave off after two years of sleeping on him like this. That, and he had recently accepted he was Death. So, feeling death in the Seal... Wasn't all that unusual now.

He gives off a small sigh and wraps the arm not in Orpheus' hand around Orpheus' neck. Thanatos then begins to preen his Assistant's blue hair gently, his fingers giving every strand the attention they deserve.]

Mm... Orpheus, I wonder how long you plan to stay at my side. I don't plan on leaving yours even when I take you where there is no suffering. I would go with you.

[clockstopped]

[No reaction to the invasion of personal space. Strange. Or the physical contact and hair preening. Even stranger. Eyes closed and completely asleep as the other speaks. At least until the last five words, which result in immediate--]

No, you won't.

[And two exhausted and somewhat-pained silver eyes open to glare defiantly at Ryoji's cyan ones. Ah, not so strange now is it?]

[Cyan eyes gaze back into silver ones. Thanatos' eyes look just as exhausted and pained as the eyes he looks into.] Would going with you be that awful? I have to take you one day in the first place... So, I might as well remain with you.

You deserve your own life. You don't have to follow me everywhere. [And the last part trails off inaudibly.] And you know I could never accept your invitation...

I have my own life! It just happens to include you. [Sits up enough to give Orpheus a strong hug even through his exhaustion.] You're my Assistant for as long as you want to. Otherwise, that invitation is always there for you.

You're missing my point. [Twice if you count the second part, but the retort dies at the sudden glomping. ... Maybe it's best if he doesn't know just yet. The hand holding onto his moves to hold him in a half-hug back, since he's still holding on and the fact his right arm's useless.] I- ...You should get some rest, Thanatos.

No, I'm not... [Have a small yawn as he cuddles even more closer into his Assistant.] Mm...? Ah... Only if you get some rest too, Orpheus.

Whatever you say, sir. [The faintest of smiles to match with the words. And you know you're the only one who gets away with clinging to him like this. Stares and blinks a bit. Was actually hoping for you to pass out again to bandage his arm up. But... well, staying around long enough has the same effect right? Turns to face away while he yawns, stupid contagious reaction, before turning back and closing his eyes with a sigh.] Sounds reasonable...

[Orpheus gets to receive a small, happy noise as Thanatos' face nuzzles against his neck. It's always a good occasion when the Assistant doesn't argue with his deals for once. This one deal isn't as unfair as they usually are, at least. It's simply to rest, Orpheus would have done that in the first place.] All right.

[Closes his eyes at the headnuzzles, but immediately his hand moves to be against the back of his head, holding him there if only to keep him from looking over behind said assistant to those dried bloodstains that make a beeline from the door to the bedside. Or the fact that a few stray drops still fall from his hand in regular intervals. No, you're going to stay with your head down and you're going to REST damnit. A fact which doesn't let up even after he falls back asleep.]

[Well, Orpheus' plan to keep Thanatos' head down to rest is a complete success. There's just one single yawn as Thanatos closes his eyes before sleeps against his Assistant. He'll fret over Orpheus when he wakes up, but at least the healing touch of Death should fix that arm up during their sleeping together. It's very convenient.]
